Long ago, Avaris was a land of blood and shadow. Before unification, vampire lords, malicious fae courts, and otherworldly horrors stalked the night. Monsters ruled where mortals dared not tread, and the wars of men often drew them into the fray.

A century and a half ago, High King Edric Valen I united the four warring realms under a single crown, forging the Unified Throne of Avaris. Peace spread, monsters were hunted back into shadow, and the Valen dynasty guided the world toward stability.

Now, under High King Alaric Valen, the continent enjoys decades of calm—but the spectre of those ancient shadows have not entirely faded.
